Maintenance & Repairs

Defective wiring and faulty electrical work cause thousands of fires & electrocutions resulting in property damage, injury or death each year. It is estimated that over 2 millions homes in the UK need some kind of electrical maintenance or repair. Older houses especially are at risk.

It is important that your home is safely wired and current legislation requires you to use an electrician qualified to current standards to carry out almost all electrical work. If you “Do it Yourself” you are not only risking legal penalties and insurance claim reductions but also your life and those of your family.

Most electrical wiring is hidden, but here are a few questions which may easily be answered to give an idea of whether you should consider having an electrician check your home…

  • Are you unaware when the wiring was installed or last checked?
  • Has electrical work been carried out and not certified?
  • Do your plugs or sockets get hot?
  • Are there burn/scorch marks around lighting or socket switches?
  • Do your fuses or circuit breakers blow or trip regularly and for no obvious reason?
  • Do you have to use adaptors or extension leads routinely to run your appliances?
  • Do your lights use the old, twisted type flex?
  • Do you have round pin plugs and sockets?
  • Do you use electrical equipment, e.g. a hedge trimmer, outdoors?

If the answer to any of the above is “yes” then you need to have an electrician inspect your electrical installation to determine whether any work is required to ensure your home is safely wired.

Please don’t hesitate to email or phone if you would like a free visual inspection carried out, with absolutely no obligation, to identify if any obvious problems exist which require attention.
